OTH for Next-Level Skincare

Let’s face it…

These days we’re spending a lot more time inside and less time exposed to harsh environmental conditions like pollution and free radicals. If there’s a silver lining, it would be the opportunity to luxuriate in your own at-home beauty regimens and get your skin in tip-top shape.

I’ve always had pretty sensitive skin, so treating it with the most affordable top-of-the line products is a priority for me. After all, our skin is our primary defense against the environment and largest barrier against infection, so keeping it healthy, moisturized, and strong is essential. Check out which products I just can’t live without!

This natural salicylic acid pore minimizing toner is a total triple threat. Salacylic acid dissolves excess dirt, oil, and makeup, which tightens the pores and frees the skin from imperfections. Another main ingredient in this purifying toner is grape polyphenols. These antioxidants prevent cell damage and neutralize the imbalance of free radicals. Like all face toners, Caudalie’s formula also corrects and balances the skin’s pH, preparing it to absorb your skincare products.

How to use: After cleansing, apply all over the face with a cotton pad. Use morning and night.

If your skin is sensitive like mine, it probably doesn’t react too well to harsh exfoliants made with sugars or salts. That’s why I’m such a fan of Aveda’s non-abrasive liquid exfoliant. I’ve used this formula for years and have never experienced dryness or irritation. Like most exfoliants, it’s best used sparingly to avoid stripping the skin of its natural oils—one to three nights a week is sufficient to remove dead skin cells and allow moisturizers to more deeply penetrate the skin.

How to use: After cleansing (and before using toner/moisturizer) apply a small amount onto a clean cotton ball and gently wipe across the throat and upward with outward motions.

Hyaluronic acid is used as a humectant in skincare products by drawing moisture to the skin’s surface and locking in hydration. This creates a natural barrier that protects the skin against harmful UV rays, toxic substances in the air, and harsh or dry conditions. This highly concentrated serum by Barbara Sturm is a newer addition to my facial routine, and when used daily, my skin feels firmer, more supple and radiant, and absolutely refreshed!

How to use: Squeeze a full pipette (or half if you’re a little thrifty like me) of serum into the palm of your hand and gently pat into the skin. Use after moisturizer for hydrating effects or on top of moisturizer for a dewy look.
